Ballot-Box Referendum a Threat to CRE

Partner, Gregory N. Weiler, shared his thoughts with Carrie Rosenfeld of GlobeSt.com about a ballot-box referendum aimed at stopping the development of a tribal-gaming casino in Madera County and the ongoing concerns for developers in California.  The referendum can wreak havoc with developers’ plans, even if they have jumped through all the hoops necessary to get a project approved.  Weiler says: “Its very frustrating for developers because you have so much upfront expenditure, and at the very end, voters can simply say no.” Read the entire article at GlobeSt.com.
