In Memoriam – James Eugene Wilhelm 1940 – 2017

On Monday, May 29, 2017, James E. Wilhelm, one of Palmieri Tyler’s founding partners, passed away peacefully at the age of 76 in San Diego, California. Jim was born in Southgate, California on November 2, 1940 to Dolores and Jim Wilhelm.  Jim earned his B.A. from California State University, Long Beach and his J.D. from the University of California, Los Angeles.  After marrying Janet Coffelt in 1968, Jim joined the law firm of Kindel & Anderson where he specialized in probate and estate planning.  In 2009, after 41 years of practicing law, Jim retired from Palmieri Tyler.

Jim was a former board member of both the Orange County Girl Scouts and the Ronald McDonald House of Orange County.  He was also a former Elder at the Tustin Presbyterian Church.  Jim was a lifelong film buff who will always be remembered for his trenchant sense of humor, skill at storytelling, and his compassion for others.

Jim is survived by his wife Janet Wilhelm, son James Wilhelm, daughter-in-law, Rebecca Gibson, daughter Victoria Corlett, son-in-law, Leon Dillard, and grandchildren Catherine and Collin Corlett.

Friends and family are invited to a memorial service on Tuesday, August 1, 2017 at 10:30 a.m. at Laguna Presbyterian Church, 415 Forest Avenue, Laguna Beach, CA 92651.
