Mr.
Weisberg is a partner of the firm. Since joining the firm in 1987, his practice
has emphasized valuation disputes and condemnation matters. He graduated
from the University of California at Irvine (B.A., magna cum laude, 1982)
and received his law degree from Hastings College of Law, University of
California (J.D., 1987).
Over the last several years, Mr. Weisberg has handled a number of condemnation
matters on behalf of private land and business owners against the State
Department of Transportation. Mr. Weisberg has obtained several jury verdicts
and settlements in excess of one million dollars. Some of Mr. Weisberg's
more significant cases include State v. Northwest Hotel Corporation, which
resulted in one of the largest cash settlements ($12.5 million) for any
property owner along the I-5 freeway widening project; and Atchison Topeka
& Santa Fe v. Lever Brothers, which resulted in a jury verdict that
was nearly $10 million more than the condemning agency's initial offer.
Mr. Weisberg was instrumental in securing favorable appellate court decisions
on behalf of his clients in Clayton v. Superior Court (1998) 67 Cal.App.4th
28 and Kunec v. Brea Redevelopment Agency (1997) 55 Cal.App.4th 511.
Mr. Weisberg is a member of the Orange County and American Bar Associations
and the International Right of Way Association (Chapter 67). He has published
several articles relating to eminent domain matters. He has served as an
adjunct professor (Constitutional Law) at Western State University College
of Law and has been a featured speaker at the Appraisal Institute's annual
litigation seminar.
